Background: I am a skilled facilitator and designer of all types of learning. In 2003, I began facilitating Effective Business Writing. I bring a dash of humour to my classroom and a bunch of genuine concern for each learner. As a life long learner, I have a natural curiosity. I live for the “ah-ha” moments. My brain is full of useless facts. As happy as I am to share these useless facts, I’m careful to dispense them in moderation. Go on, I dare you: ask me the origin of the phrase “Bob’s your uncle.”
Likes: I love the semi-colon; people often leave it out because they don’t know how to use it.
Dislikes: I dislike when people use big words because they think it makes them sound smarter. You’ll actually sound smarter when you use simpler words everyone can understand. I also dislike uncooked onions. I don’t like the texture and I end up picking them off my food anyway.
Education: BA in History and Political Science, York University. Adult B.Ed, Brock University, M.Ed., Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto.
Favorite quote: “You get more with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word.” Al Capone. Effective Business Writing is filled with great quotes.
What I do in the rest of my life: I enjoy spending time with my growing family. I enjoy watching my young son learning something new, watching him work through it, and seeing him master it. I also enjoy playing soccer.
